Dr. David Moreno-Hernandez earned his Ph.D. in Optics from Centre for Research in Optics (Universidad de Guanajuato) in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico. Prior to joining to the Centre for Research in Optics in 2003, he was a postdoctoral scholar in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Florida State University.  The current major research of Dr. David Moreno-Hernandez is on optics instrumentation to visualize and measure velocity and temperature for macro and micro fluid flows.

 

Research interests:

  • Digital holography applied to particle position and fluid flow velocity
  • Measurement of optical properties of particles and transparent liquids using Near Field Lorenz-Mie theory (NFLMT).
  • Schlieren technique to measure simultaneously temperature and velocity in fluid flows.
  • Vibration analysis of mechanical structure using full field and point optical techniques.
